Formulated with our blend of amino-based filaggrin antioxidants, AFA Gel Mild is comparable in efficacy to an 11% AHA formula, but gentle enough for nearly all patients but those with the very most compromised skin conditions. AFA Gel Mild effects an improvement in pigmentation through exfoliating, but with very little irritation. Plus Vitamin C supports increased collagen production. Ideal for addressing acne, large pores, dull skin, early signs of aging, rosacea and overall tone and texture.
AFA Gels are non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and hypoallergenic. It is preferred to start out with either the exZit or Gel Mild in any regimen, even if you have used other glycolic acid products as these are stronger than other products.
In the evening, cleanse the skin with the AFA Cleanser, rinse and pat dry.
Apply the appropriate AFA Exfoliating Gel Mild to the face sparingly and allow it to dry. The AFA Exfoliating Gel Mild should be applied with the fingertips to all areas of the face avoiding, of course, direct eye contact, and without rubbing it in to vigorously. Do not use as a spot treatment.
About 3 to 4 drops of the AFA Exfoliating Gel is enough for a full-face application. The Exfoliating Gel should be cleansed from the face with the AFA Cleanser after no more than four hours and then an appropriate AFA moisturizer should be applied.
If there is no irritation or reaction to the first application, then subsequent applications of the AFA Exfoliating Gel in the evening should be left on overnight. There should be nothing applied over the AFA Exfoliating Gel (the moisturizer is used the first night only because the patient has re-cleansed their face to remove the AFA Exfoliating Gel).
It is recommended that patients begin with the exZit or Mild Gel as it is formulated with the lowest concentration and allow their skin to acclimate to a daily AFA Exfoliating Gel application. Once the patient has finished the bottle of AFA Exfoliating Gel Mild, if they feel they need to take a step up, they may then advance to the AFA Exfoliating Gel Plus and from there to the AFA Exfoliating Gel Max if required. This progression is based on individual patient tolerance. Patients should only progress to the strength that their skin can comfortably tolerate. Very sensitive, dry patients may not progress beyond the Mild Gel. While other skin types may increase to the Plus Gel quiet easily.
A few patients who have been using other cosmecetucical products prior to beginning the AFA program may be able to begin with the AFA Exfoliating Gel Plus strength, but this decision is best left to the discretion of the qualified medical care professional.
